Montusi Mountain Lodge

Montusi Mountain Lodge is a delightful accommodation venue offering self-catering and non self-catering chalets. Montusi Mountain Lodge has an excellent restaurant and amenities. The main building is brick under thatch with a reception, dining room with fire place and under floor heating, patio, bar, lounge with fire place and a massage treatment room. The Lodge and rooms have a wonderful outlook over the rolling foothills of the Drakensberg to the Amphitheatre of the Royal Natal National Park in the distance.
Hikes on the estate, horse riding and swimming are all popular activities along with fly fishing in the rivers.

Thendele Camp – Royal Natal Park
Northern Drakensberg, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa
Thendele Camp is located within the Royal Natal Park, part of the uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park’s northern sector. Thendele Camp is immediately below the most scenic escarpment of the Drakensberg Mountain Range, the amphitheatre. The original Thendele Camp has been enlarged with additional chalets built nearby giving guests the option of the slightly smaller ‘lower camp’ accommodation or the newer, larger ‘ upper camp’ units. There is very little difference between the two camps, all being brick under thatch, with private bathrooms en suite, a lounge / dining / kitchen area with a fireplace. Outside there is a patio with a braai (barbecue) stand.
There is no restaurant at Thendele although for guests wishing to not self-cater, there is the nearby Mont-aux-sources Hotel where Thendele guests my go for dinner and other meals.
Activities: Hiking trails, swimming in pools of the Tugela River, birding, game viewing and visiting some San Rock Art shelters.

Cathedral Peak Hotel

Established in 1939 the Cathedral Peak Hotel is a privately owned four star venue situated in the scenic Cathedral Peak Valley of the uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park, a World Heritage Site. The Cathedral Peak Hotel caters from families to weddings and conferences and is an ideal honeymoon retreat with excellent cuisine.
Indoor activities:
Billiards, table tennis, darts and gym with a steam room. For the younger children there is a dedicated children’s dining room and baby-sitters are available.
The outdoor activities:
Guided hikes in the mountains and also to San Rock Art paintings. Jogging route and hiking trails.
Tennis, squash, bowls, volleyball, badminton are offered with flood-lit mini golf along with the 9hole par 70 rated golf course. A 10 m climbing wall another activity.
Horse riding, fly fishing, mountain bike and quad-bike riding nearby.

Didima Camp – Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife

Didima Camp is located in the Cathedral Peak valley of the uKhahlambe Drakensberg Park, a World Heritage Site. Accommodation for 136 guests in a variety of self-catering and non self-catering Chalets, mainly 2 bed, 2 x 4 bed Chalets, a 6 bed Chalet and a honeymoon suite.
Didima Camp has magnificent views of the central Drakensberg, the Didima Camp chapel has a glazed wall behind the alter affording unobstructed views of the mountains behind. Ideal for families, conferences and weddings. At Didima Camp there is a San Rock Art interpretation centre with theatre interpretations daily. Certainly worth a visit.
Guest are able to hike on a number of trails as well as fly-fishing in the nearby river. There is a swimming pool at the camp along with a tennis court for guest enjoyment, bring your own equipment.

Kamberg Camp – KZN Wildlife
Central Drakensberg, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa
Kamberg is an Ezemvelo KwaZulu-Natal Wildlife accommodation venue set in the Kamberg Nature Reserve, a 6,000 Ha game reserve within the uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park, a World Heritage Site. Kamberg Camp has a 6 bed Cottage and 5 x 2 bed self-catering chalets. Some distance away is an old farmhouse, Stillerus which sleeps 10 guests.
Noted for its exceptional San rock art in the Game Pass shelter, guests are able to watch a presentation of these early peoples that inhabited the area, their history, culture and legacy at the San interpretation centre at the Kamberg Camp and then take a guide hike to Game Pass shelter – this is an approximate 3 hour walk. Kamberg Camp has a shop with limited supplies. We suggest you bring all your requirements should you be overnighting there.
